  • To further dialogue and research about images of scientists and conceptions of scientists.
  • To provide a place for authors to offer their instruments, scoring guides, and other useful tools that facilitates future DAST research.
  • To serve as a communication hub for DAST- related researchers to connect and share information and form collaborations.

History of the DAST Wiki

This site is an outgrowth of a meeting of science educators at the annual international conference of the Association for Science Teacher Education (ASTE) in Minneapolis, MN (USA) in January, 2011. Those attending that meeting shared a common interest in researching drawings of scientists made by various groups cutting across age, cultural, gender, and other variables. Collectively, the group recognized the need for a more coordinated approach to this area of research, as well as the need to begin bringing together listings of resources and other helpful materials and ideas that fellow researchers would find potentially useful.
